The Malaysian dilemma in London |
It appears Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry is now appointing businessmen and failed politicians as ambassadors to foreign countries. Maybe in Washington is okay. But in other countries….!!!!. Not that many of the so-called diplomats are the best that the country can appoint. Yet they are the best choice. Yet again some have failed in their jobs.
London needs a strong and polished head. Not a businessman or politician. London is a key post. London needs a strong personality, not a weak person. Don’t make Malaysia a laughing stock by posting a weak person or who likes to be the invisible man.
What is happening in London now is a matter of urgent matter.
The newly appointed man take urgent measures to stop the rot which has set in. Rumours and gossip from the place is astounding. Even the students in London and Malaysian public seem to have knowledge of the sorry state at the office.
People comment that weak officials running the place have made it a laughing stock among Malaysian community. Now the officials are extremely weak. They can be swayed by even the new staff and even the new messenger seems to make a fool of the officials.
Weak leaders who want to be popular have also let the place down. Currently it seems there are weak officials who want to remain popular and take no actions aginst staff who abuse the system. After all they will be in London or elsewhere for three or four years, so why make a fuss, that is the idea behind their rational.
New staff (guess their ethnicity) are making fools of the officials and the officials just keep on ignoring it.
One woman, new staff, comes late almost everyday. No action has been taken. She takes sick for four days and takes the fifth day as annual leave. That idea is sharp indeed. So no sick leave cert has to be produced. She gets her card clocked in. Officers can see it on CCTV. Yet no action has been taken or warning given to her. In London, private companies have a policy that if anyone clocks in for their colleagues both face instant dismissal. She has threatened to sue the office if the office takes action against her.
The man who used to run the canteen is now working in the office as messenger. He does not give a damn to the officers coming and going whenever it suits him. The officers are scared of him. He treats them with utmost contempt.
Such is the state of the Malaysia’s top office London.
When will the ministry look into these sorry affairs in London? After all the taxpayers are paying for their keep and have the right to know is happening to the country’s flagship centre.

Cars, Cars and Cars everywhere |
| It took me 2 hours to get from Kajang to Jalan Tun Razak KL from 6.15 to 8.15pm yesterday until my petrol tank almost ran dry. It was a massive traffic jam, I am still wonder why. Is it because traffic from new highways like the DUKE and the Putrajaya Tun Razak highway pours into the the old Tun Razak road. If so the highway planners and implementors have done a shoddy job. Whatever it is we have not solved our traffic woes. The people entrusted to do it have failed us very miserably and pathetically with all their never ending excuses. We pay toll to drive through with ease not to get into traffic snarls. It is really ridiculous that Malaysia which has some of the best highways in the world but has not managed them well in terms of traffic flow. If those entrusted to do the job are not able to do it please give it to someone who can do it. I am sure there are people around who can do it. Put the right people in the right place and I am pretty sure everything will run well. Malaysian traffic woes are a never ending saga. Build "cangih" highways and then add a few thousand new cars a year into the highways. Yes, we produce cars for local use but at the same time the highways should be able to cope with the additional traffic. If we want to have a nation of 5 children per family there must be sufficient schools, health care facilities, etc, etc. Those who make policies are not doing their job and seem to have no foresight. |

Heroes of Philanthrophy |
| Heroes of Philanthrophy announced by Forbes includes people who have donated money. What about those people who have given their time and energy for the common good and betterment of mankind which cannot be measured in terms of money. Donating money alone does not make one a philanthroper |

Conserve our dwindling forest resources |
| The weather these days have become too hot due to climatic changes caused by human intervention in the removal of large tracts of forests in the name of development. Anyone living near dense vegetation can vouch that their homes are cooler than in the cities. They hardly switch on their airconds. The role of vegetation is very significant in reducing temperature. Firstly ground vegetation allows for evaporation of moisture that cools the surface of the earth through latent heat which in turns cools the air above it. Secondly the vegetation itself loses heat by transpiration. Thirdly vegetation is a reservoir for water to evaporate, this condenses and become rainfall which further cools the air around it. Now we suffer from a heat wave as a result of loss of vegetation cover. The rich and mighty can destroy the vegetation, sell them and replace them with concrete structures so as to feed their appetite, make their pile and live in air conditioned homes or spend their time in Switzerland when the weather gets too hot. The poor or ordinary people will have to just make do with the effects of the destruction left behind by the tycoons ie the heat wave. |
