Srinagar, May 12 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday said that he is hopeful of cooperation from the new government in Pakistan in checking the infiltration in the State.

"The infiltration of militants from across the border, especially during the past two months, is a concern," Azad told British High Commissioner Richard Stagg at a breakfast meeting in Srinagar.

The state is witnessing infiltration bids from across the border and the government is very concerned over the issue.

Azad said we hope that the new government in Pakistan would cooperate with India in checking infiltration and taking forward the peace process.

Minister for External Affairs Pranab Mukherjee's is going on a visit to Islamabad later this month and he would give further impetus to the peace process, he added.

Azad further said that the past two years had been the best in the state in terms of the number of casualties and violent incidents.

He also said that human rights violations had been brought down to a negligible figure while no custodial disappearance had been reported during the last year and the current year in the state.
