    Brunei ruler accorded ceremonial reception

    New Delhi, May 21 : Ruler of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'Lzzaddin Waddaulah, who is on a four-day state visit to India to further strengthen bilateral relations, was given a ceremonial welcome here on Wednesday.

    Waddaulah met President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahmed.

    During his visit, Waddaullah will hold discussions with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on wide range of issues, particularly focusing on ways to enhance economic ties between the two countries.

    India and Brunei will sign four pacts, including Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA).

    Besides this, MoUs on information and communication technology, trade and economic cooperation and cooperation in the spheres of culture, arts, mass media and sports are expected to be signed.

    The Brunei Sultan will also meet Vice President Hamid Ansari, Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Chairperson of India's ruling Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Sonia Gandhi and Leader of the Opposition L K Advani.
