Mahathir demands Badawi's resignation
Malaysia Sun Saturday 5th April, 2008 (IANS)
Former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has sought the resignation of his successor and incumbent Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Mahathir has repeatedly sought Badawi's resignation after last month's poll debacle for the ruling front, Barisan Nasional (BN).
He has now called upon members of the United National Malaysian Organisation (UMNO), the BN's dominant Malay constituent, to challenge Badawi's continuance as the party chief.
Badawi has said he is not quitting as the prime minister and as the BN chief, but has welcomed any election for UMNO leadership. 'I am not going anywhere,' he told media earlier this week amidst speculation that he might resign.
BN lost its two-thirds majority in the March 8 election, and retained only a simple majority. Each of the three major constituents, UMNO, Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) and Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) lost heavily in parliament and control of five states.
Mahathir, who quit in 2003, has said that he had hoped to go into retirement, but was forced to speak out because of the present conditions.
However, a number of charges of corruption have cropped up, both before and after the elections.
The latest to join the demand for a probe against him is Karpal Singh, the Indian origin chief of the opposition Democratic Action Party (DAP).
Singh has lent his voice to the demand made by NGO Gerak and former United Nations special rapporteur Param Cumaraswamy, The Star newspaper said Saturday.
Like Gerak and Cumaraswamy, Singh pointed to the testimony of former Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) director-general Shafee Yahya during the trial of Anwar Ibrahim in 2000 when Shafee had testified that Mahathir had ordered him to close a file.
'If the allegations against Dr. Mahathir are true, the former prime minister should not be spared from the long arm of the law. There is no limitation period when it comes to criminal prosecution,' Singh said.
Anwar Ibrahim, a former deputy prime minister whose trial for corruption and sodomy was ordered by Mahathir, has emerged at the head of the opposition alliance that won an unprecedented 82 seats in parliament.

Mahatir/BawadiThe Dr has never forgiven PM for releasing Anwar who was falsely imprisoned. Now he wants PM to resign. He must remember that the PM is an eleceted MP. Mahatir should put a ZIP between his two lips and not bark from the sidelines but entertain his good friend Mugabi. |

MOVE ON,,,,Again we find the UMNO dissatisfied with the winnings from OPPOSITION & refuse to bring PEACE TO THE COUNTRY,,is stupidly sad!! To almost everyone who has felt the PAIN of CORRUPTION, INJUSTICE, VICTIMISATION OF CERTAIN SECTORS, UNREASONALBE HIKE IN PRICES OF THE UTILITIES & the list goes on.
NOW it is totally maddening to disrupt the smooth transition of the losses to the WINNING PARTIES to be able to perform in the best they have set out to do ,,,but not so by the JEALOUS & VINDICTIVE MALAYS ORG. GET OFF THIS HIGH HORSE & LET THE NATION BE NOW MANAGED BY THE SO CALLED “OPPOSITION” WHICH THE DARN LOOSERS SEEM TO HARP ABOUT EVEN AT THE COUNCIL MEETINGS.
WHY HAVE THIS GROUP OF MALAYS DISPLAY THEIR SHALLOWNESS?
WE ARE ALL VERY POSITIVE THIS NATION CAN MOVE ON TO A GOOD START & END, IF THEY WILL ONLY ACCEPT THEIR LOSS & STEP ASIDE & INSTEAD ASSIST THE PARTIES TO MAKE THIS COUNTRY A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN & TO LITERALLY SHOW THE DICTATOR NEIGHBOUR TOO HOW MALAYSIANS HAVE COME OUT TOPS IN JUST ABOUT THE DECADES OF AFTER INDEPENDENCE TO A NATION OF GREAT SELFLESS BEINGS & NOT BITCH & MOAN & BE VINDICTIVE TILL THY KINGDOM COME.
DID THE CITIZENS NOT COME OUT & VOTE FOR JUSTIVE & PEACE & RIGHTFULL RECOGNITION OF A HARMONOUS NATION TOGETHER?
THIS LAST ELECTION WAS NOT POLLED FOR WINNINGS BY CERTAIN ETHNIC RACE BY BY ALL RACES,,SO STOP BEING SICK & MAKE GOOD NOW FOR ALL. WE WANTED THIS IT IS IN THE LIPS OF EVERY RACE THIS WAS WELL THOUGHT OF & COMING. THE COMPLACENCY OF THE UMNO FOLKS IS MERELY TIME FOR THEM TO RETHINK THAT IN THE ORG, ITSELF THERE ARE SLY SLITHERING SNAKES THAT NEEDED TO BE REMOVED BECAUSE THEY HAVE HAD IT TOO GOOD & WAS SPENDING $$$ LIKE IT WAS GOING OUT OF FASHION, TALKING BIG, SWANKY IN PUBLIC, SITTING IN 5 STAR HOTELS & WASTING TIME MEETING SOEM PEOPEL FOR NOTHING BUT MAKING THEM PAY THEIR LAVISH ORDERS. WHAT DO U CALL ALL THIS?
WHY SHOULD THIS NEP NOT BE SCRAPPED? WHY CANT EACH & EVERYONE BUY A PIECE OF PROPERTY WITHOUT DISCRIMINATION WHEN IT IS THE VERY WEALTHY MALAYS THAT ARE BUYING & THE LOWER & MIDDLE INCOME HAS TO STRUGGLE FOR A ROOF OVER THEIR HEADS WHILE THE RICH BUYS HOUSES TO LEAVE IT ROTTING & CAN BE SEEN IN EVERY HOUSING ESTATE?
YOU HAVE THE MAN IN THE POLICE FORCE BUY A HOUSE & THEN HE LIVES IN THE QUARTERS & THEN LEAVES THE HOUSE TO BE A TERMITE HAVEN,,,IS THIS THE NEP A GOOD THING??
WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THE INJUSTICE SO LET IT BE SUCH ALL CAN BE EQUAL & YOU WORK FOR YOUR KEEPS, NO NEED TO HAND OUT FREE GIFTS & EDUCATION & SCHOLARSHIPS TO THE RICH FAMILIES.
NEXT, THE MAVCAP & CRADLE WAS SET UP FOR DESERVING CREATIVE BRAINS ,,,BUT NO SO BECAUSE THE ORG, IS MANAGED BY BIASED STAFF & WILL GIVE OUT TO PEOPLE THAT THEY CAN GET SOMETHING OUT OF IT TOO.
HOW LONG CAN THIS GO ON UNDETECTED? WHY NOT THE BRAIN DRAIN???

Evil over Good?It is indeed sad to see people who were participants or who know the facts to important events and incidences in our history are keeping quiet while others are perverting these events and incidences to suit their own agendas.
Why should these people take such a stand - what are they afraid of, what are the apprehensions they harbour in their hearts that prevent them from speaking up, what fears do they nest their their hearts which the general public do not comprehend. Maybe they should share them with the other concerned citizens so that they be spared being seen as being afraid to stand up for the truth.
Why can’t there be more people like Param Cumaraswamy and Karpal Singh. By not speaking up, the possessors of truth not only embolden these perverters of truth and justice, they are allowing the history of the nation to be distorted and, more unfair, they have allowed those who had suffered from these incidences and events to go unrecognised and their deeds unrecorded.
Must the nation continue to suffer because those privy to truths are too afraid to speak up. |

Stop the callingCalling for the PM to resign is splitting UMNO leading to a crisis in the present government. Sit down and think what could have happen if there was no change of UMNO leadership: the people’s power has been always the driving force; the people could have voted more the Opposition; when there was so much corruption then and now, a clean sweep is need and the Opposition has taken the people’s mandate in parliment. Accept the change. More calling means more shit is thrown at each other. |

unite the malays Why are the Malay leaders pulling in opposite directions and going for each other’s jugulars!Destruction of UMNO is staring into their eyes and yet they cannot stop bickering.
Its high time Tun Mahathir and Abdullah Badawi are brought together by other senior Umno Veterans to settle their differences and mend up for the sake of Umno.Abdullah being the junior could make the first move. There is no shame in extending his hand first.Remeber.Inspite of Tunku Abdul Rahman continously running down Mahathir,Mahathir n his cabinet never ever showed disrespect to The Tunku. In fact he regularly visited him out of respect. This tirade against Tun Mahathir, many atime rude and obnoxious by his former proteges must be stopped. He must be sucked into the leaderships orbit by any means to quieten him and ask his help to unite Umno again. He has experience in uniting umno in the past.He has been forgiving in the past, otherwise Badawi may never have been PM,by being out of UMNO.HIDUP UMNO AND THE MALAYS.LESSON TO BE LEARNT DO NOT BE DIVIDED,AND NEVER BE ARROGANT ALLAH SWT EXTREMELY DISLIKES ARROGANCE.EVEN THE FIRAUNS ARROGANCE WAS BURIED! |

Mahathir demands Badawi's resignationTun, Every person got their way. Let PM Badawi to hang on and hand over peacefully to his successor when the time is right. Immediate resignation may make things worse. Victory and defeat like head and tail in the same coin. May be UMNO thought only head will fall in every spin. When tail fall, they could not digest, may be its time for them to understand that nothing is permanent, everything must and will go through changes in law of nature. No dynasty has ever ruled any nation forever in history, so, accept the fact, UMNO is not indispenceble. UMNO need to change to face the changes, without which other Malay based political parties may unseat themin near future as party for the Malays. |

A Dictator Is an Incumbent who is oustedMahathir is NO dictator as he was the incumbent and he was not ousted. He resigned inb 2003 and of course he did gracefully.
If Abdullah Badawi is ousted then it goes down in the history of Malaysia that we have for the first time a DICTATOR. It is better that he resign gracefully like all our previous PM. It will be so disgracful if he is ousted. It is not just his shame but for UMNO and Malaysia. What is his purpose of habging around when there are other capable leaders who can also do the job. He is no indispensable.
Time will tell if the we are truly having a real dictator. But please don’t call our other beloved PM dictators. Not even Mahathir. |
