Two Malaysian Indians charged with aircraft engine theft
Malaysia Sun Wednesday 6th January, 2010 (IANS)
Two ethnic Indians were Wednesday charged in connection with the theft and disposal of two jet engines belonging to Royal Malaysia Air Force (RMAF).
The two F5 jet engines went missing in 2007.
Sergeant N. Tharmendran of the RMAF was charged with theft and company director K. Rajandran Prasad with their disposal at the Sessions Court here, Star Online, website of The Star newspaper said.
Tharmendran, 42, claimed trial to a charge of abetting airman Mohamad Shukri Yusop in the theft of the two engines.
Rajandran Prasad, 38, pleaded not guilty to a charge of helping to dispose of stolen property belonged to the RMAF.
Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail said in a statement Tuesday: 'Investigations revealed that both F5 jet engines were removed from the godown in Kuala Lumpur as a result of a collaboration between an RMAF personnel with the rank of sergeant and a company director to dispose of both jet engines.'
He said based on information from witnesses and documents obtained, he ordered the two to be charged, reported Bernama, the official news agency.
The jets engines belonging to the 12th Squadron (Scorpion) based in Butterworth were stolen in 2007 from the RMAF godown in Kuala Lumpur.
The RMAF discovered the jet engines missing May 22, 2008 and a police report was lodged Aug 4 the same year.
Also missing were maintenance and service records.
Patail said the stolen engines had 'left' Malaysia for Argentina but were off-loaded to another vessel bound for Uruguay.
However, he did not reveal their current location as efforts were under way to recover the engines.

SuperbThese 2 idiots, has little knowledge or not knowing at all of the engines and yet can find a buyer paying hundred million. This is what our Police can delivered after 2 years of investigation. It is an insulting to our fellow Malaysian, for godsake today is 2010. |

| Ohh man! Once M-16s got stolen, now 2 massive engines got stolen too.
To think back only 2 culprits behind these?
I’ll bet more higher ranking are behind these.
But well,I’m not surprise we malaysian always got 'orang dalam' to cover.
Guess how much these 2 indians got 'paid' and only RM150k bail??? Small amount compare to the multi millions value of the engines.
Well wat you got to say about that?

| Well done to The Strait Times for reporting about lost engines.Otherwise Our Police will still be sitting back and leave the case unsolved. 2 yrs of silent and only after abt a month news published in the newspaper, then Malaysians heard abt 2 indians got arrested. If not publish, how long will these case remain behind close door? Maybe till before the next election.

MISSING JET ENGINESWhat a crab. What a shame. What a scandal. These 2 smart gentlemens took out 2 engines by lorry through the security gates mend by Air Force Commandos. The warehouse had duty airmens and duty officer and they did not see this engines leaving the area.Maybe the government wants to check all inventories of the 3 forces. If 2 large engine can walk than think about other hand carried sophiscated items that might cost millions too.
To the air force, why not privatize the guard duties at the main entrance to all air force base to Mahmoud Securities. Maybe they can do a better job.
Charge the commanding officer, ware house officers, duty officer and the guard house and don’t just pack the blame onto 2 guys. |

attention!!!our military is like a pasar malam, almost and easily avialble, one can gain acess to.to blame those two guys is like telling a story to 5 year child, that all is sloved, malaysians are much more mature than these people think, that is why we have the political tsunami 2008. suddenly the police and the other autorities swing into action when it was reported in the papers, stupid political statement are coming out, making the country a laughing stock many times over again.in Japan,Korea,or even less develop country, the top ,I mean the very TOP eg ,minister, general will voluntary Resign OUT OF SHAME, HERE IT IS DIFFERENT, as usual the ikan bilis gets the blame..prepare for the next election you guys...hands down and do not blink, you are history!!! |

| If this could occur, this only indicate how weak security-wise, the security and non audit of inventories is being handled in the RMAF. The SpecvialInvestigation Brnach of the Military Police which is responsible for Criminal Investigation in the Military should be nprovided with facilities with being able to carry out audits of equipment, apart from the Field Security of the Military Intelligence. The whole problem is inteference of senior officers when audiyts are being carried out. There must be frequest audits.
With all these occuring, then some Jokers are linking this to politics, just because something is stolen does that mean there should be a change of Government. Come on some of you above be realistic. Donot link this tyo Submarines and some others, like M-16;s. Other countries too lose a lot of things but noyt many people makes some noises like these. Exceoyt some interested people fort some reasons or other do that. Other countgries lose a lot of things more. This is nothing. Some engines purchased in 1975 and presently has really no value. Exzcept some people put a value on it, oh we have lost RM 50 million engine. Then the item is under investigation, let the investigators do their job, donot jump on the bandwagon whtout knowing what some jokerts like the above are talking about. |

incredibleGo to any car workshop. See them winch an ordinary car engine out of its mounting with a powerful electrical tool. Even a car engine needs that kind of power to lift.
Now imagine the size and power of a jet fighter engine.
Can u now imagine one sergeant lifting the two missing engines, packing it, and then loading it to vehicles that can fool the commandoes on sentry duty.
Indians of Malaysia, u make Sylvester Stallone look like a baby.
Ghani Patel, our dear Attorney General, you have learnt much from Jamali Shadat. Now u make him look like an amateur comedian. |

How do THREE become TWO.....???? The story states in #4, that Tharmendran was charge with ABETTING Airman MOHAMAD SHUKRI YUSOP in the theft of those engines. My question is this: What happened to the primary thief MOHAMAD SHUKRI YUSOP? Why is there no mention of him now? Was he charged and convicted as the primary thief...??? If one ABETS someone, than that SOMEONE is the primary culprit. So, what’s the answer here...??? And WHO ELSE was involved? One guy doing all this by himself? SUPERMAN??? I think Encik Abdul Gani Patail should stop making himself look ridiculous. We are
NOT fools A-G, nor will we swallow something so preposterous. Get the REAL culprits....we the Rakyat DARE YOU... |

a sargent is a L. col.Zaid briefed on the sctusl price of the engines..YB, it is not about the price but about our national security.. and our pride.Even if the price of the engine is much lower than what you have stated, the matter does not cool easily. If a sargent can complete the imposible job by himself there is questions need to be answer..what if a General rank of foreing army plan the sabotage in the country through our greedy personnel? The result would be disastrous ...second question by right if the sargent can plan and execute the plan very well under the nose of B.G.then to me he is no more a sargent. At least a L.c |
