Ex pop idol and convicted paedophile, Gary Glitter, after being deported from Vietnam and Thailand, has been refused entry to Hong Kong.

Chinese authorities informed the UK Foreign Office they had barred Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, 64, after his arrival on Wednesday.

He was deported from Vietnam after spending almost three years in jail for sexually abusing two girls.

He flew to Hong Kong from Bangkok after refusing to catch a flight to the UK.

He had boarded a Thai Airways flight to Chinese territory Hong Kong after Thai authorities at Bangkok airport refused him entry and threatened to deport him to Britain.

In Thailand, Gadd had claimed he was suffering a heart attack but was checked by a doctor and certified fit to fly.

19 countries have already said they would refuse entry to the former pop star.

If Gadd does return to the UK, he will be met at the airport by police and required to sign a sex offenders register, which could stop him travelling altogether.
