Shia Muslims killed as bombers hit processions
    Malaysia Sun
    Thursday 2nd September, 2010

Pakistani bombers have targeted Shia Muslims, walking in a solemn procession.

Police have said the bombs were detonated close to crowds who were marking the anniversary of the prophet Ali’s death.

At least 25 people were killed and more than 100 injured after the series of blasts in the Pakistani city of Lahore.

The suicide bombings hit three separate locations where up to 35,000 Shias were marching in their traditional mourning ceremony, which remembers the Prophet Muhammad’s cousin, who died 1,300 years ago.

There have been many recent attacks against Shias, mostly perpetrated by pro-Taliban groups.
