London, Apr 13 : When it comes to showing love for the place you are born, American actress Scarlett Johansson takes the lead.

The 'Lost in Translation' star insisted that she loved growing-up in her home city New York.

"I love New York. I loved growing up here," Daily Express quoted the actress, as telling Glamour magazine.

The 22-year-old insisted that she has spent a jolly good time in the city, thanks to all the freedom her parents gave her.

"My parents were always very liberal and open," she said.

And when the question is about freedom, it's notable that the legal drinking age in New York is 21.

The Mahattanite revealed that she used to hang out around George Segal's sculpture, 'Gay Liberation' and hunted almost every bar at Christopher Street.

"I used to love to play around George Segal's Gay Liberation sculpture of the couples sitting on the bench at Sheridan Square. I'd run up and down Christopher Street and sneak into the bars," she added.
