Morgan Keegan was the top bond underwriter for the state of Texas schools in 2005.
According to Thomson Financial, Morgan Keegan & Co. underwrote nearly $4 billion for Texas school districts last year.
Most recently, Morgan Keegan served as senior manager in a $270 million bond issue for the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District, the second-largest Texas school bond issue this year, said Tom Oppenheim, a managing director at Morgan Keegan and manager of the firm's Texas Public Finance operation.
Also, Morgan Keegan was among the top underwriters in municipal bonds in Texas in 2005, according to Thomson Financial.
The firm was the third largest underwriter of negotiated municipal bond issues in the state in terms of par value, with 156 managed issues totaling $9.1 billion.
"Providing quality investment banking services to issuers in Texas is a primary focus for our firm," Oppenheim said in a release. "We have established strong relationships with clients throughout the state, and we are pleased that the firm continues to produce results that exceed our clients' expectations."
Morgan Keegan is the securities brokerage arm of Regions Financial Corp. (NYSE: RF), a Birmingham, Ala.-based bank with about $84.6 billion in assets.
